DON’T EAT THEM
To state the obvious, the best way to help dairy cows is to not drink their milk (which, by the way, they produce for their offspring, not for us!). There are plenty of alternatives to dairy (oat, soya, almond, rice, hazelnut, coconut). The vegan dairy is booming at present, with new dairy alternative products coming on the market every week. The old days of soya milk and nothing else are long gone.
If you can’t stop drinking milk or eating cheese or yoghurt, then the very least you must do is to buy organic. As more consumers move away from dairy, the range of vegan alternatives grows and expands. Every consumer can make a difference. You can make a difference!
Speak out. Use your voice. Express your opinion. Talk to your family. Talk to your friends. Ask them to try vegan alternatives to dairy. Ask them to buy organic, if they don’t want to switch. Talk to the manager of your local supermarket. Talk to the owner of your local restaurants and cafes. Ask them to stock vegan alternatives. Ask them to only buy organic dairy.
Lobby your local political representatives. Ring them up. Email them. Call to see them at their weekly clinic. Be polite, be insistent, be passionate. Don’t let them fob you off. Use your social media platforms to share posts from animal rights organisations.
Join an animal rights organisation (see LINKS on this website). If there isn’t a local campaigning group in your town or locality, ask one of the animal rights or animal welfare organisations if you can do some campaigning on their behalf. Most groups will be delighted to hear from you.
BE RESOLUTE, BE STRONG
Finally, be resolute and be strong. The cows have no voice (or none that we can hear). Let your compassionate, passionate voice be theirs!
